Is Seattle a good place to move to?

I am wanting to transfer schools and was wondering some thoughts about moving to Seattle. Somewhere near Capitol Hill district or near University. How are jobs out there (jobs while in school)? I guess i could get a shovel and dig out a space in the VW bug that the troll is holding.....😉

You like rain?

I know its really overcast and stuff inthe fall winter, but i hear spring/summer is killer.
Yeah...when it's not raining.

Seattle is like England, except at least SOMETIMES it's sunny.

Also, do you really want to say you live that close to Ameesh!?

:Q

you like to go salmon fishing?
you like paying no state income tax?
you like the space needle?
you like to ski?

maybe it's just me but i think it's been getting hotter in the summer as the years go by... summer here used to be nice, but now it's too hot.

Horrible traffic. That's what usually keeps me from going to Mariner games (I'm in Oregon) more often. The drive through Seattle is just stupid.

Do you go to SU?

The Seattle region is quite nice. Relatively high-tech place that's nice to live in. The best region is to the east of Lake Washington, around Bellevue and Sammamish. Very nice for middle class families. What's very interesting is that unlike other cities, Bellevue is a very nice suburb that's only 10 minutes from downtown Seattle, which is really awesome 🙂

What kind of rain is it usually? A constant drizzle or a lot of heavy down pours?

a little bit of everything, i'd say... probably 15% drizzle, 50% light rain, 30% heavy rain, 5% basement floods

More like 20 minutes if there's no traffic on either of the 2 bridges across Lake Washington, and that doesn't happen very often. It is 15 miles as the car drives from downtown Bellevue to downtown Seattle.

Seattle is a great beautiful city to live in. Many people are awed when they see its skyline for the 1st time. Really good nightlife. If you love the outdoors, everything you could ever want, from ocean to mountains to rivers and streams, is right there. Despite the left-leaning radicals, the people are pretty friendly too (and very eclectic). OTOH, it is expensive and crowded, the traffic is terrible (among the top 10 worst in the nation), it is overcast and rainy for 7 months of the year, and it never actually gets hot in the summer except on rare days.

edit: btw, it's a pretty commonplace thing out west here to have nice housing not too far from the metro core. Every major city that I can think of out here (Seattle, Portland, SF, Sacramento, LA, BC, Denver, SLC) is pretty much the same in that respect. You pay for it though.

I'm in Seattle on business this week from Orlando. I like it up here. I went to Mt. Raineir today and got to play in the snow.

I've lived in Seattle my entire life, have traveled most of the 50 states, have family in California, Texas, and Virginia, and I must say that I enjoy the Northwest the most. There's something about the mix of forests, moderately temperate but unpredictable weather, and rabid liberalism that I enjoy. I'm most familiar with the University District, and I've come to enjoy it; so much to do and see, such a diverse population. I have several friends at different schools in the area, PLU, SPU, UPS, WWU, CWU, EWU, and Seattle U; Seattle U and WWU are my favorites of the mix (other than the UW, of course, 😛); Seattle U is a good solid regional school, nothing like being taught by Jesuits. Western's good for smoking pot.

Wow, I think I've contributed nothing by my post. The way it goes on nights like these. 😛

Cheers!
Nate
