Is Scott Ritter reliable source regarding Iraq and WMD's? If not, why?

No.

His last report as an inspector was very critical of Saddam.

I think Saddam got the goods on him since it coming out now Scott Ritter is a pedophile with a like for young girls.

is that a good thing or a bad thing?

How does the pedophile-allegations discredit him when it comes to Iraq and WMDs?

He strikes me as someone with an agenda; not an impartial, credible source of info.

Blackmail?

Maybe Saddam lets him have his way with young girls in Iraq? He makes an awful lot of visits there.

to me, that's a bit far-fetched.

Allegations of Pedophilia? Rather convenient, he being a critic of current US policies toward Iraq and all.

Read about Scott Ritter's military career
Read about Scott Ritter the weapons inspector.
Read Scott Ritters last reports as a weapons inspector in 1998.
Read what Scott Ritter says about the Iraq's WMD program now.
Read the transcript of Scott Ritter's address to the Iraq National Congress last year.
Read about the $400K that someone in Iraq paid Scott Ritter to do something.
If you think it sheds light on character take into account the report of Scott Ritter's recent arrest in New York.

Make your own judgement.

Do you have any links or additional info about any of those incidents? I know what he's saying about Iraq right now (that the WMD's are destroyed), but I do not really know about the rest (apart from the pedophile-accusations)

I didn't save any of the links or anything when I really started reading about this guy. We discussed him at length on this board a few months ago and I posted the conclusions I came to in that discussion. I really don't want to again because I would rather have people draw their own conclusions first.

I did some googling and I found some info regarding his last report ("Iraq is not disarming") and the money he reveiced. Very interesting to say the least.

Let;s just say ... I have more respect for Tariq Aziz. At least he supports his country.

Ritter is as patriotic as the color of his money.

He's exceptionally credible -- just ask Susie Mae Bend-Over.

There's also the "documentary" film he helped to make which was financed by an Iraqi sympathizer with close ties to the Saddam regime. He enjoys staying in the limelight and feeling important (or feeling Susie Mae) so he flipflopped on his 1998 pronouncements against Iraq to stay public. There was a terrific article on him a month or so ago in either the Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal or Washington Times (it was on the DoD's Early Bird, so I can't recall the paper, though I'm fairly certain it was one of the bigger/more common ones).

I'm wondering why you haven't stated your opinion of Ritter.

DaveSohmer raised very good questions about his character.

He has been bought out by Iraqis and as far as I'm concerned he is a traitor,
Regardless of his time in the Marince Corps.

Yup you can never trust a marine. Be sure to read what Scott Ridder has to say about the cahrges against him. In matters as important as war, you need to look at a lot more than one person's opinion. The big question I have is what's the hurry about Iraq. They weren't on most people's radar for 12 years. I just have a terrible time working up a slavering fear of Iraq. I don't see the immediate threat. I don't see a whit of real difference between Iraq and N Korea. They both look lile the evil axis to me. Our Iraqi policy is irrational. Americans should not be sent to their deaths for stupid reasons or even concealed ones. But one thing is sure. Bush may win his first election for Pres if he has a win in Iraq that's not too costly, but he won't win on the real issues facing the country. He's a flop.

He was arrested twice in 3 months for the same charges, he got off with a warning on the first time, the second time it never went to trial and his cases were sealed. IE: Swept under the rug.

When I started this thread, I didn't have that much information about Ritter. All I knew what that he has completely opposite opinion on Iraq than just about everyone else does, and that many considered him to be uncredible. So I wanted to know what's the story behind him. Now I have looked up some news about him, and to me he doesn't seem that credible.

Iraq, today is not disarmed, and remains an ugly threat to its neighbors and to world peace. Those Americans who think that this is important and that something should be done about it have to be deeply disappointed in our leadership.

And who was the leader of this leadership? Don't everyone jump at once. :)
