Is SBC DSL any good?

Moving to connecticut tomorrow and sbc serves my area. I heard they dropped their prices today too. Is their service good? Also, is their 3.0 mb/s service worth it or is it just a minor speed upgrade from their 1.5 mb/s service?

Depends on how much downloading you do and how impatient you are. I got in on the 1.5 mb/sec service for 20 bucks a month a few months back. I've been pleased with the service so far.

My parents have had it for 4 years. It has been good as long as you get a good (recent) modem. THe old modems sucked.

Yes, I'd get the 3MB over the 1.5MB. The upload speed's the same for both, I use the 1.5MB and I regret not getting the 3MB instead.

max upload for 1.5 service is 384, max for the 3.0 service is 512. I just checked it and they did drop the prices by 5 bucks. 1.5 service = 14.95 a month, and 3.0 service = 24.95 a month. BASTARDS :|

where in connecticut? Last time I lived there they had SNET...and COX cable. That was a while ago though...

SBC announced this morning they will be lowering their DSL service fee to $14.99 a month. I'm not sure how long it will take for the providers to adjust their prices but I would ask before signing up anyways. Just an FYI.

I have 3mbps service through sonic.net. Their service and support are amazing, I'm glad I chose them over SBC. You might want to check them out.

Sonic speed test- my modem is still training.

Sonic.net line quality test.

God damn, I'm paying $27 for the basic DSL. I don't think they'll lower my price either because I signed a one year contract last September.

I was considering that... do you have to have phone service for sonic.net? Do they have any other charges that's not listed?

WTF? I need to change my service STAT! Those bastards. I'll threaten to switch to Comcast if they don't give me the new price. WoW demands 3MB!
