Not only is it simple, but CM10.1 has a Release Candidate rom that includes Nook HD/HD+. I had been running a 10.1 nightly on sdcard, but I have now installed the rc rom on the device itself, because I have no intention to return to the Nook OS. This is a stable rom and should suffice for a long time.

Very pleased.

What's the proper GApp/GPlay file for CM10.1.3RC2 Hummingbird?

Is it the 10.1 tract here?

I used gapps-jb-20130812-signed with 10.1.3 RC3-ovation. (Not sure what difference is with hummingbird?)

By the way, for anyone wanting the Tablet UI (personally I can't stand going without it) there's an excellent post on xda with instructions on how to apply it to any version of CM10.1 (possibly 10.2 also):

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45212919&postcount=178

Worked great for me on 10.1.3 RC3.

^ I've seen that with every version of CM10. First the animated ring is too big and off center, boot animation is slow. After a few seconds it centers, animates at normal speed, and the boot continues. Has to be normal since I've seen the same thing on several HD+s I've owned or set up.

Looking at the "for dummies" thread on XDA...

compared to installing Ubuntu Linux on a laptop, there are probably 5x as many steps on the "for dummies" page of XDA.

Heck, it took me 3 hrs to root and install Cyanogenmod on my galaxy tab...and that was comparatively easy compared to the Nook.

Anyways, to each their own.

I didn't notice that, I will have to look. It's 2:30am and I have a 8:30am call in the morning and I am still dealing with being a new dad...

what happened with mine was a minor glitch but just like my thinkpad T60 when I bought a LCD panel that didn't do all modes.

it did something like this right at the bottom 1/8"-1/4" of the screen in monochrome:

It's just for a second until the Cyanogen splash screen comes up (which our 10 year old is going to think is "SO EPIC!" and then tell us it can probably help him to kill creepers, zombies, spiders, etc while saving his villagers and their pets (really livestock in the game). I am sure Herobrine is doomed now.

He has a laptop, but plays on his iPhone more.

Yea that glitch small long bar about an inch thick on the right side. Its a vertical line. Only comes on during the cyanboot stuff.

I have it and it does it every time. Along with the oversized splash that then goes to normal.

I just put Cyanogenmod on a Nook HD 7" over the weekend. First time ever doing that to a phone/tablet. Some initial confusion in reading a couple walkthroughs since I never did it before, but in the end it was extremely easy. Literally just copy several files on a 4GB sdcard, make it an active boot partition, stick it in the nook, and then just use the menu to install stuff in the right order. I think the couple walkthroughs I saw had more information that was necessary in order to do it, as it made it seem a lot more complicated.

I agree. In all reality the root procedure is:

1) install the 5 bootloader files (either burning the img directly or via copy to a bootable sd card)

2) copy the zip files you want to install:
2a) CM X.X.X (I'd recommend the 10.1.3RC)
2b) EMMC
2c) GAPPS (get the signed version for Android 4.2.2.2)

3) Power off device, insert SD card and boot.

4) do a backup and then a device wipe.

5) install the three zips in any order

6) as the device reboots remove the SD card.

done.

there are three things .. maybe you know ..
I would like ..

1. to hook a blue tooth keyboard .. the Logitech 810 .. it is not pairing ..

2. to use googe voice texting input like a do on my lg smartphone .. speak and it types for you in messages or on sites ..

3. I cannot even find out how to access a file manager on the nook .. such as to format an sd card .. and read it ..

4. if I could use the nook as a monitor for my smartphone .. could I then use the phone as a mouse pad for the nook ?
