Is Ripplehost still down?

I have used them before and liked what I got. I loved cpanel. I tried e-rice but did not like it at all. Any other alternatives?

I've used them happily for two years, but hey my time there is almost up for a year and I think I may bail, given what people are saying here.

Rossman has done me no wrong in the past with his financial recos 🙂

In the beginning (remember paying $4.99/yr?) they were great especially considering the price. But lately sales/support/billing hasn't been up to par.

Remember you get what you pay for, if you want cheap and worry free hosting I'd check out HostPC.com

I think it might be down for awhile (forever?). There are posts on the forums there that he sold his hosting stuff, so is just letting this one dangle.

I've had it for almost 2 years now (July). It cost me $5, then $10. I was happy with what I paid for it (didn't get, nor did I need much support).

I think I'll go with e-rice, since I have another account there - another great deal, and much better service. Although I think they recently cut down on their quotas <shrug>.

One newbie question though - what do I lose if he doesn't restore/reboot the server?
1) everything on my website
2) all my mail that was delivered up until this date (or until I find a new host)
3) anything else (other than the 3 months left on my contract)?

If I transfer now to e-rice, where does the mail go in the meantime? I assume my mail will be in limbo for at least a week after I change hosts? Will it ever be delivered, or am i SOL?

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH RIPPLEHOST!

I'm glad I bailed on them about a year ago. I went with another of Ross's recommendations, HostPC, which has been spectacular where Ripplehost was craptastic.

I wouldn't go with them, many of their customers have been coming to me for a long time now. Their low rates are not worth the hassle!

sonataweb has been treating me very well, so far one of the best hosts i've dealt with (including some $500/month hosts)

I've signed up with Telnap a few weeks ago with a cheap shared plan. *Knock on wood. I've yet to really push it but so far so good, it hasn't been down and cpanel has always been quick and responsive as is the site. Devioustrap has been very helpful via AIM as well whenever I had questions.
