Yes they are.
Ritek/Ridata Are good.
Taiyo Yuden are good.

They are pretty much best quality.

Actually Ritek has a very bad reputation with cd-r's. They improved with dvd+-r but still have bad batches. The recent G04/05 seems to have very bad degradation.

Verbatim/Maxell use Ritek but seem to have better qc with their batches.

Top quality blank DVD media are Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim DataLife Plus. The DataLife Plus series of Verbatim is definitely NOT Ridata.

i used to have GREAT luck with ritek/ridata, but the last couple batches i've gotten from them have just kept inching downward slowly in quality. now i stick with taiyo yuden (watch out for imposters though!)

Did you flash your firmware? For some reason, my 16x Ritek dvd-r's would only burn at 4x in my NEC 3520a until i updated my firmware.

What I'm amazed at is how my 4x Taiyo Yudens burn at 12x no problem :thumbsup:
