I am about to build a pc and plan to buy the 3800+ x2 processor. I have abosolutely no intention of overclocking at all. With this in mind will the retail heatsink be adequate or shoudl I still look into a 3rd party one. Thanks

if you ave no intention to overclock then do you think that AMD would provide a HSF with their cpu's that does not cool adequately?

No i don't think.... so do you?

Obviously I realize it must work or they wouldnt include it. I guess I"m just looking for advice as to if I should still spend the money for a better heatsink or if I should just stick with the standard one.

After market cooling is only needed if you are bothered about noise or overclocking.

IMO not to overclock a x2 3800 is a crime :)

Unless you have bad case cooling or live in an area thats really hot then Retail is fine.
