Is refilling ink on inkjet printer bad for printer?

I'm trying to buy ink refills for HP948c inkjet printer..
Now iheard refill inks can be bad for printer head... is this true??
I mean.. everyone does it..don't they?
And replacing catridges are very expensive...

Say I'll be refilling the ink.. how long do you think I can get away with this without replacing actual catridges?

the printer heads on the disposable cartridges are rather fragile, and will wear out after a while. i don't know how many times in specific you can fill it up, but eventually the head will wear out.

The quality of the ink in most refill kits is just this side of garbage and unless your extraordinarily careful, one hell of a mess.
Not worth the hassle IMHO.
