Is RAM refers to memory or storage?

The name random access memory or its abbreviation, RAM in itself should be descriptive enough of what it is. It can be associated with a form of storage but since its volatile, it should be considered memory instead.

And, volatile means that when power is removed, the memory vanishes. So, that is why it is not considered as storage. OTH, non-volatile memory such as NAND is considered as storage.
