Is RAID worth it for a gaming system....

Most people say it doesnt make any differences in gaming. I personally can see a difference regardless of what the benchmarks show

The only noticable difference will come in loading times with a raid 0 or 5 setup. Actual in-game performance will not see any difference.

After you've maximized everything else, if you still have a giant pile of money you don't want to invest or spend on games, then it will help map/level load times.

Click the Storage tab at the top of the page and find the "Raptors in RAID0" article (it includes non-Raptor times too)

I've had a RAID 0 setup since August 2003, and to be honest, load times can still be pretty slow in games (although I do always end up being the first one into a map when I'm playing on a server..).

most software companies do little to take advantage of raid also, keep in mind that everything is based on the average user (1 drive non raided in any flavor)
so not much of a performance boost.
