Is RAID driver needed for single Maxtor SATA?

Is the f6 driver area needed for a single Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300G?

I have tried to install windows but it failed to load. Now I'm reformatting with the mapblast program and wondering if f6 drivers are needed?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Scott

From what I've been able to tell (reference my own post in this thread, towards the bottom -- http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=1504183&STARTPAGE=1 ), the A8N-SLI doesn't require RAID or SATA driver install with only one SATA device in a non-RAID configuration, provided the BIOS is set up correctly and you're using WinXP/Win2K/Win64. Also check out this thread which offers some other insights -- http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=1504503&enterthread=y

As I'm not thoroughly familiar with this particular board, I can't say for certain, however. A more thorough explanation of exactly what's going on could help, though -- where's it fail? Does the BIOS recognize the disc? You say you're formatting it now, so it would appear the system recognizes it.

EDIT -- fixed the b0rked linky
