I'm sure Radeon 9500pro will be enough to run Doom III, its just a question of how well it will run it and at what resolution. Of course there is also the consideration of your memory & cpu.

There's no way of knowing how well it will perform, but going from the latest alpha builds, it should be enough to play at least on lower resolutions/graphical settings. You shouldn't buy a card now to play a future game though. By the time the game ships, there'll probably be much better cards.

a 4200 can run doom3, so a 9500 will certainly run it. Of course there will need to be "sacrafices"

I would venture to say that a 9500PRO will run Doom III very nicely (as long as the rest of your rig is up to par). The current performance of the card with the infamous Doom III benchmarks is not indicative of how the card will actually perform. In the future, ATI will tune their drivers for this release alone which will greatly increase performance.

I agree about not buying a card now for running a future game. There will be at least one or possibly 2 more generations of video cards out before Doom III is released. This will mean that you will be able to get a 9800 Pro for about that same $200 you have right now...
