Is Radeon 8500DV the way to go?

Currently I am using a Geforce2 GTS card. I want to get a Video Capture Card (to convert my Hi8 videos to digital) and I'd also like to get a better video card (for Gaming). 2 Questions

1) Is the 8500DV a good capture card ?
2) Is the performance any better than GTS?

Just trying to kill 2 birds.......

PS. I appreciate good graphics but I'm not one to get overly excited about insignificant differences. Guess you would call me an occassional gamer but I must say I am getting more intrigued.

the 8500 is a lot better than the card you have now in 2d and 3d
the 8500 should be able to play any newer games for quite some time
i don't own an 8500 dv or know first hand anybody that does but you should not have any problems capturing with that card
my original radeon did fine as does a friends 8500 le with a tv wonder

I'd personally get a 8500 AIW rather than the DV, the AIW is 250/250 I believe but the 8500DV is 230/190 which as far as 8500's go is pretty slow. The 8500 AIW has a firewire port so the only reason to get a 8500DV is if you wanted to run dual LCD monitors.

The 8500 AIW has no firewire port, and all AIW cards are single head cards.

The AIW R8500DV doesnt support multi-monitor, neither does the AIW R8500. The AIW R8500 also lacks the FireWire and and only has an analog TV-Tuner rather then the Digital TV-Tuner on the 8500DV.
The AIW R8500 is clocked at 275/275.... the 8500DV is 230/190 as you said.
Either are of course easily faster then the GTS as well as being considerably more feature filled.
