I'm going to help a friend remove his newer Window A/C. It uses R32 refrigerant which is mildly flammable. The old model used 410A which was not flammable. He stored the old model near gas appliances never thought of the safety hazard.

These newer refrigerants are bit more worrisome.

It is difficult to intentionally ignite R32 as implemented in products, so it shouldn't be a fire hazard unless there is some odd mad scientist setup where gas appliances were somehow situated in a sealed environment with it to allow a concentration to build up, yet these appliances given a special/isolated, replenished supply of oxygen to be able to still function which is no real world scenario. Even an air stream in like on a furnace would dilute the R32 too much.

Besides, the odds of a rapid leak while sitting unused are quite low unless someone is throwing cherry bombs at it, while encased in the aforementioned sealed environment. Don't Do That.

Thanks for the Reply.
Yeah..It seems it should be safe in the same area....the A/C in question doesn't have that much R32 to fill the entire room....not like a natural gas leak. So it would just dissipate pretty quickly. Still had to consider the flash fire possibilities.
