I passed by some pumpkin spice cheerios in the store a few weeks ago and decided to give them a try. They are good but taste exactly like apple jacks. Now I'm sitting here eating pumpkin spice Life cereal, and it tastes identical to the cinnamon flavored Life cereal but with a slightly lighter color. I feel swindled.

Some are better than others. Pumpkin spice is kind of overdone, but it sometimes works well, and makes the best time of year a little more special.

Lol! That's because pumpkin spice is mostly cinnamon, there's absolutely nothing pumpkin about it. The rest of the spices are ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.

Pumpkin spice is bad and the people that like it are bad too. The one exception is when it's actually used in pumpkin pie.

If you like pumpkin spice, buy or make pumpkin spice (which is, as freeskier93 points out, not pumpkin but a spice mix). I have pumpkin spice on hand because I do like the flavor in the fall season. The mild spice flavor is perfect for the cool weather. I make pumpkin waffles, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin pie... though in the case of the coffee, there's no actual pumpkin used (that would probably be gross :p).

I don't use it much otherwise during the year, though pumpkin spice is a decent spice mix for oatmeal, too.

I do like pumpkin pie, but tend to stay away from anything else pumpkin related. I honestly have no idea what the actual spice is made of, I'm guessing cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.

On another note, throwing a little cayenne pepper into a pumpkin pie makes it pretty awesome.

Pumpkin spice is good in oatmeal raisin cookies as well. With plenty of raisins. Compare your raisinless lives to mine and wallow in disgrace.

Love the Fall season... especially Pumpkin treats. In the next few weeks/couple months, I'll be baking Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Pumpkin Ginger Cupcakes. :D

Sounds like cereals have some work to do with their flavor profiles.

Now, Baskin-Robbin's Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream is loaded with delicious spices. :icecream:

It would be a scam if they charged more for the Pumpkin spice Life, but I remember them being the same price.

1. Pumpkin spice is pretty good, if they actually use pumpkin or pumpkin flavoring.
2. They over-advertise it. I saw pumpkin spice dish soap at the store the other night, I kid you not.
3. Pumpkin itself is bland, the spices are what make the flavor good (nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, etc.)

I've tried to limit myself for the last few years because it's everywhere now & it's super easy to get sick of if you overdose on it. With great power comes great responsibility!

In about a week I will be cracking open the first of this year's home brewed pumpkin ale. Plenty of pumpkin spice in there and after two or three you no longer care if it is a scam or not.

Pumpkin spice and pumpkin-flavored everything is the primary mind-control agent that the government uses to keep the people in line. Obviously, this is specifically distributed throughout the election season every year to make sure that the rabble keeps voting for established party elites and their moneyed interests.

DO the research, sheeple!

I knew those were pumpkin-spice chemtrails at sunset! Some garbage about the sun's light reflecting off the particles in the atmosphere creating orange clouds, my eye! Just another example of Big Food creating mass addiction & covering up delicious lies!

Is pumpkin spice a scam?

There actually is a scam going on, not with spice, but with the pumpkin itself. The FDA is pretty crappy at food regulation....as it turns out, you're usually eating squash, not specifically pumpkin:

http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/1128407/canned-pumpkin-fake

For food & decoration, we usually use either pumpkins or sugar pumpkins (the small ones), but when you buy pumpkin stuff from a store (like canned puree) there's a good chance you're actually getting Dickinson squash: (a special strain that is related to butternut squash)

http://www.epicurious.com/ingredients/what-is-in-canned-pumpkin-article

The thing is, the squash generally tastes better than the pumpkin does:

So, nobody cares. Behold, your false pumpkin prophets:

Kaido strikes again.

Olive oil, pumpkin, vanilla, saffron, cinnamon, it's all a scam. A delicious, delicious scam. Who cares though? Just about nobody stops eating the stuff once they find out. At least, I didn't...lol.
