Is Ps3 inferior to Xbox 360

Well,i just had a question in my mind.

Is ps3's hardware inferior to 360's., because gta 4 runs at 640p on ps3 and 720p on 360.

This forces me to think one of the following points:-

1). Ps3's hardware is inferior to 360's,

2). Or else,microsoft paid take-two a truck full of money in order to create the controversy.

3). Anythinh else that i don't know . . . . .

i know many games run on sub-HD but a game running at different resolutions on different consoles is unacceptable.

I wouldn't say the hardware is inferior but, the developer toolbox probably is. Most developers say the PS3 is much harder to program for? I'm not a programmer so, I'm shooting in the dark.

If anything I'd speculate that Rockstar had difficulty optimizing the PS3 version to get the most out of the hardware.

I thought that the PS3 had a better cpu but the 360 had a better GPU.

All in all, the two consoles are virtually even. The PS3 does some things the 360 can not and the 360 does some thing the PS3 can not. It is up to the devs to get the most out of both machines.

It's hard to say which is "inferior." They're comparable. Much more comparable than last generation.

The screenshots from the two versions of GTA IV look pretty damn close to each other despite the different native resolution, and the Xbox 360 has slightly more texture pop-in than the PS3 version.

The PS3 supposedly has more untapped power than the 360, but anyone who tries to tell you how much more performance they can get out of either is a liar.

Bass was being sarcastic about the hype regarding the PS3 running games at 1080p (I think). GTA IV does indeed run at 640p.

No, I would imagine that the developer just preferred to ship it earlier rather than take more time to optimize it for the PS3.

Do not assume a console is inferior compared to another based on a single cross-platform game.

Also for all you people who are confused the Ps3 version of gta 4 runa at 640p and is upscaled to 1080p.

In a simpler language :-

it is like you run a game at 1024*768 on a monitor with a native resolution of 1280*1024.

Also, i agree that people should not create a useless controversy over resolution (as there are many better things that have a talent hidden deep inside them to be a very good controversy) as we should only be concerned about the image quality which is more or less the same on both consoles.

Are there any games that actually run (and are rendered) at 1080p on either console? I know that both are capable of displaying 1080p video, either from the PS3's built-in Blu-Ray drive or from the 360's HD-DVD attachment. But I've never heard of any game that's actually rendered at full 1080p. 720p, sure. Maybe not for really demanding games, but there are plenty out there that are doing 720p.

I was more thinking in PS3/360 upscaling vs Monitor scaling anyway... and I realized I was just being too technical and it wasnt necessary in this context... specially due to the fact it was supposed to be a simple explanation anways.

99% of all console games are trash.

Incidentally, the PS3's hardware is substantially more powerful than the 360's, its just much harder to program for.
