Lets say you pull up to a light, a cop is behind you. You have front locking brakes.
If you lock the front brakes, then powerstall for 5 or 10 seconds to get a nice hazy burnt rubber cloud, is it illegal? What would the ticket be, aside from a jolly good asschewin from the cop?

It is illegal. I am pretty sure the charge is 'intentional tire spin' or wreckless driving. People at my high school used to get busted for that all the time... Cops would just wait outside the parking lot and pick off all the show offs.

What the hell kind of terminology is "powerstalling"? That a Missouri thing, like how they call soda "pop" in crappy states?

It is illegal. I have gotten a ticket for it and in Minnesota it was termed "Excessive Acceleration".

Fvck no, we call it 'soda', like normal people. We also say 'burn out' not 'powerstall'.

"powerstall' doesn't even make sense.

From dictionary.com:
stall: The sudden, unintended loss of power or effectiveness in an engine.

yeah, it's illegal.

Exhibition of speed, wreckless driving, unnecessary acceleration.. it's different for every state.

Edit:

I call it pop. :p Actually, I've been calling it soda pop lately.

<-- from Oregon

Yeah, it's Excessive Acceleration. My friend drove a corvette, and when he was getting on the freeway, he would floor it until he hit about 70 and then level off. The cops pulled him over and give him a ticket for excessive acceleration.

That's possibly the dumbest statement in the history of language. Hydroplaning is illegal? How about locking up your brakes during aa really quick stop, that illegal too?

I think you misunderstood him. :p I think he meant just while sitting at a light..

Regardless.. if the cop wants to pull you over, they will.

Or maybe its like how they call pop "soda" is crappy states?

Its just a regional thing. It doesnt make one state better than the other...

Unless a state calls everything coke, then that is just retarded. The south sucks! ;)

Give the guy a break.....he can't help his screwed up terminology as he is from the armpit of the nation. Kansas and Missouri are two of the most god awful states around.....I'm from Missouri....I ran very far away and shall never return. Since he is in Kansas City he has been influenced by both of these messed up states.

Alright, didn't think I would have to essentially spell it out.
As long as the tires break traction on a road under normal conditions (not sandy, etc) upon acceleration or at a stop it is a ticketable offense.
Happy?

?and this info was from a cop

Why does everyone keep talking about 'wreckless' driving - surely that's a good thing. Now, reckless driving, that's another thing altogether.:D

If your tires break traction, it's illegal.
If the cop says your tires broke traction, then they did.
And it's frickin' SODA, dammit. S-O-D-A! Pronounced "SO-DAH" Not "pop" or "carbonated beverage" or "candy water" or anything else. Dammit. :p
