my system:

motherboard: asus p4c800 deluxe
cpu: intel p4 3.0 ghz HT
ram: 1 gig pc3200 corsair in dual channel
video: pny nvidia geforce fx5900 ultra
sound: soundblaster audigy 2
And Echo Darla (studio sound recording)
1 dvd drive
1 burner drive
1 floppy drive
2 hard drives
550 watt cool max power supply
windows xp home

Two days ago I booted up and got a warning that my video card wasn't recieving enough power. I rebooted and the message didn't come up again. Then yesterday I booted up and got that warning again. (the power connector from the PS is plugged into the video card. Nothing has changed in this system in over a year)

Now today, I get ready to record some music. (this system is a gaming/audio recording rig) My Echo Darla soundcard wasn't being detected. The system doesn't even think it exists. I reinstalled drivers. (actually I found newer updated drivers from website) The soundcard doesn't show up in audio properties or in device manager. Asus Probe shows my motherboard is getting adequit power. So shouldn't my sound card be getting enough?

If you can help I would really appreciate it. I don't know what to do. I guess my next step is to take the soundcard out, reboot, then put it back in. Then I might start unplugging some USB devices and my florescant light I have mounted inside the case. I really don't want to start pulling stuff out just yet though. I'm hoping it's a software issue.

thanks.

I'm thinking this might be a bug in the OS. Havn't formated in a long long time.

I got the soundcard to detect after rebooting several times. But got lots of errors when windows was installing the 'new' hardware that has been there for over a year.

I'm going to give it a couple days and see if anything else happens. Havn't recieved any warning messages about not enough power to the video card in a while. I'll probably end up formatting eventually unless something happens that really indicates a problem with the PS.
