i don't see how you guys love Church's so much - it's the most generic fried chicken you can get around here. Hell even Albertson's fried chicken has more flavor.

Popeyes > KFC > Church's

Love the spicy chicken and spicy gravy. And think they have the best biscuits.

I've eaten at Popeye's twice...both times, I got sick as a dog.

Full-blown food poisoning. Couldn't keep anything down (or in) for about 3 days afterward...so IMO, NO, FUCK NO.

The thigh/leg had a good crisp on the outside but the chicken was pretty greasy, which is to be expected for fried chicken I guess.

Well, duh! Fried chicken should be somewhat greasy, imho.

There's three big fired chicken places here....
Popeye's > KFC > Marry Brown's

Only went to the latter once. Their chicken was gristlely and not very meaty. Everyone knows Popeye's Chicken is the shiznit. :D

YOU ASSHOLE!! :(

I was back home about 3 weeks ago. First stop is always Bojangles. I grabbed 1/4 white & fries + a cajun filet biscuit.

had Bojangles 3 more times those 2 weeks

also went to Chik Fil-A 3 days in a row, grabbing the new spicy sandwich (I've been well out of a Chik Fil-A market since that was released). The nephew was around, had his first ever Chik Fil-A nuggets. Instant addiction.

<3 Chik Fil-A for sandwiches/breakfast biscuits and strips...luckily they have sprang up everywhere in SoCal.

DIE.

the closest one is about 40 minutes from me, iirc. Fuck, I really hate Berkeley, sometimes. It is near impossible to get any kind of chain in here, because they are all considered evil corporations or some ridiculous BS--NVM.

There is one McDonald's, a Jack in the Box (I've never eaten at one, actually), Popeyes and Churches. The last two are actually really close, and Churches is almost always out of chicken, haha.

The chicken is quite good for fast food. the biscuits are yummy as well. not a huge fan of the mashed potatoes but they're edible

I first had Popeye's back in Orlando, FL about 1987. At the time, they had the most awesome Onion Rings, covered in the light flaky batter. They recently added onion rings onto the menu again, but not as good as the ones in '87.

One of the best places I've gone for fried chicken was a place in Big Bear, CA. Can't remember the name. Usually went there after a mtn bike ride at Snow Summit. Hmmmm... making my mouth water just thinking about it.

depends on your perspective.
compared to KFC? absolutely.
as far as fried chicken goes....not really. Their idea of "spicy" leads a lot to be desired, as does their understanding of biscuits.
still, it's very cheap depending on local deals. From coast to coast and in between, however, I've yet to experience a Popeyes that doesn't serve dry, old chicken.
The red beans and rice, however, is quite good.
Popeye's chicken is OK. I agree that Bojangles chicken is much better and they have the best fast food biscuits. Period. Popeye's red beans and rice is simply the best side at any chicken joint I've ever patronized.
I very much enjoy Popeyes. Never had Bojangles or Churchs, but Popeyes to me beats Browns, and Browns beats KFC.
The one thing I remember about Browns is the fried mushrooms. I tried the chicken once, but never went there again unless I was in the mood for fungus.

Actually can anyone give me an example of a commonly fried food that isn't delicious?

I can see people who don't like seafood not liking your standard fried calamari...but damn...if you coat it, bread it, and dip it in hot fat, I am going to eat it.

damn it...think I'm gonna have to go get some fried chicken tonight. problem is, the spicy at Churches and Popeyes is almost always out. I really don't get this--Just make spicy!

that's what Bojangles does. If you don't like it: GTFO.

I think a seared or grilled steak is superior to the fried cuts of steak. I was actually thinking about this the other day: what isn't as good when it is fried?

I have to go with steak.

I think chicken is best when fried because it's such a bland and useless meat, otherwise. But when it's fried...it's maybe the greatest thing ever.

While I prefer a smoked turkey, deep fried is also amazingly good.

True steak is better when you use a higher quality cut and cook it correctly, but there are few greater pleasures in life than being wasted at 3:00AM in a Las Vegas casino and hitting the cafe for a country fried steak...mmmmm....

After my weight loss surgery, this is the one thing I miss the most. A big bite of a fresh out of the fryer piece of Popeye's chicken. Small bites (and only half the fucking piece) doesn't feel the same...
