I started a job in a new area and there is one of these eateries close to me. I'm wondering if it's any good, if it's a good price....and also, if it's usually safe or if it's full of gangsters, homeless, and vagabonds.

Short answer - yes

Long answer - yyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssss

Get the chicken strips, mix regular and spicy with a side serving of mashed potatoes. Dip the strips in the mashed potatoes,,,,,, man talk about good.

depends on your perspective.

compared to KFC? absolutely.

as far as fried chicken goes....not really. Their idea of "spicy" leads a lot to be desired, as does their understanding of biscuits.

still, it's very cheap depending on local deals. From coast to coast and in between, however, I've yet to experience a Popeyes that doesn't serve dry, old chicken.

The red beans and rice, however, is quite good.

Their biscuits are butter drenched, salt laden little morsels of sinful win. The chicken is okay. But it's really expensive.

lol know what you mean. I have had good ones but these are tasty as well in a totally different kind of way.

Like hot dogs, you can really enjoy the ones at Costco but you know there are much better ones out there.

well, they aren't even biscuits as far as I can tell. I'm pretty sure they aren't made form scratch--in store.

if you guys want real biscuits from a fried chicken joint, you have to go to Bojangles. Also the best damn fast food fried chicken, period.

Church's chicken >> Popeyes.

Popeyes biscuits > Churches biscuits.

Popeyes sides >>>> Churches sides. (though, Churches will give you a bag of whole jalepenos. Beat that!)

Bojangles > *

I love Churches and but the problem is that there's hardly any of them around. I'd have to drive 45min out of my way to get and Churches. Also a quick google shows no Bojangles anywhere in the LA area so I won't be able to try it.

You and I are really bumping heads today about food. :p

Church's chicken < Popeyes.

Popeyes biscuits << Churches biscuits (Hardees is better than both).

Popeyes sides > Churches sides. (though, Churches jalapeno bombers are fucking amazing)

Never had Bojangles, and I'm sure quality and taste vary a metric shit ton.

Our Churches Chicken is in a bad part of town or I would try them.

Pop Eyes is a little better area wise; as stated, food is pricey.

Bojangles are all over the place and nothing beats a bo-berry biscuit.

I like lots of food, but only two am I truly passionate about:
BBQ (I hail from the birthplace of BBQ; so it's in my blood)
Fried Chicken. The west coast is a sad, sad place. :(

YES! Hardee's is the best! they created the sausage biscuit for breakfast item, contrary to popular misunderstanding. --also their fried chicken (Roy Rogers) was 2nd only to Bo.

still Bojangles biscuits are much better: Extensive menu, Breakfast all the time--COUNTRY HAM BISCUITS! and yes, their biscuits are ridiculous.

honestly, If I had ever had a moist, fresh piece of chicken from Popeyes, they would be comparable, but they simply aren't. :\

Bojangles only does spicy. That's all they've over done.

zerocool: unfortunately, Bojangles is a southeast-only thing. Mostly NC/SC/VA. You'll find them in Northern Florida, not sure about central and southern Florida, though. I imagine the small size helps them to maintain quality.

Much better than KFC but that isnt saying much.
I prefer an all white breast or two (chicken, not women) and never bother with their wings or drums. Spicy, cuz thats the minimum to get any flavor.
Their biscuits are OK too.

Churches is much better but not available in my area.

Restaurant chicken is hit or miss for me, mostly miss.

I got by on $3.05

1 Tuesday/Thursday special, which is leg and thigh - $1.29
1 loaded wrap - $1.49 - which is by far the best deal on the regular menu. A good sized wrap with 2 tenders in it and a ton of rice and beans

The thigh/leg had a good crisp on the outside but the chicken was pretty greasy, which is to be expected for fried chicken I guess.
I'm not a huge refried beans type of guy, I was hoping their rice and beans would be whole beans.

Their menu looked pretty dang expensive for meals though, like $7-$8 for the combos. Overall, I'll probably go back 1x a month or so just when I need a break from my turkey on wheat to have some nice greasy chicken.

Aww weak. Well hopefully I'll visit that area sometime. I always love trying out local chains.

It's ok, but I like their sides best. Biscuits are decent for fast food.

Church's chicken is better.

I like Bill Miller's too, but I don't think they have any outside of Tx

I very much enjoy Popeyes. Never had Bojangles or Churchs, but Popeyes to me beats Browns, and Browns beats KFC.
