Call me ignorant but I just don't know which was the more prestigious school, Upenn or Penn state.

Could you clarify? Is Penn state regarded as a good school? GPA avg/SAT of accepted freshmen?

[edit]
im already a jr in college. This is just pure curiosity because my friend xferred from there.

I think UPenn is probably more prestigous, but Penn State has an enormous alumni association. Is it hard to get into? Not overly. Can't be too hard with some 25-30,000 students at the main campus. Depends on what major, but I don't think you would have any trouble if you had a 1150 or so SAT, 90 average overall H.S. Engineering probably has more stringent admissions requirements than most other academic programs, what are you planning on majoring in?

UPenn is an Ivy, Penn State is simply a state school. I'll let you guess which one is the more prestigious, more selective school.

LOL. If LOLyourFace can't figure it out after that comment... then he doesn't deserve to get into either.

If you are pretty darn smart you will get into Main Campus for all 4 years but if you are going around saying and writing "LOL" all the time you might be forced to go to a branch campus for the first two years. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Are you a minority. If you are then yes if not you better have a good GPA, SAT/ACT score, and a lot of AP credits.

Penn is prestigious, Penn State is not the easiest to get into either (main campus). It's on US News's top 50, and the Honors program is regarded as excellent.

Getting accepted into a Penn State branch campus is fairly easy, as long as you have 950 SAT's and a 85% average. The main campus is much harder to get into, however, and you'll need at least 1200 SAT's and an 95% average to get in to some of the more popular programs like Comp Sci and Engineering.

Penn State main campus is NOT hard to get into for anyone who actually managed to pay attention in High School to get a half-decent GPA/SAT scores.

UPenn, on the other hand, is an Ivy League school. If you pulled a 1600 on your SATs, you've got a chance.

BTW, I'm actually at Drexel University, which is literally right across the street from UPenn. Combined we form what is known as University City. Every once in a while we get those preppy jerks to throw us a crumb. :p
