I don't know, but after I adopted a 5-year old, I made one for her one day after years (probably close to 10) of not having one. It looked and smelled so good after I made it, I immediately got hooked on them again. I have fresh bread, PB and jelly in my desk at work now.

Actually, I do remember when I was a kid living in Germany, we had an exchange student from Hungary that sat at our table at lunch. He had a thick accent and often mis-pronounced words. One day someone asked him what he had in his lunch box (you know, when kids were still cool and had real lunch boxes) and he said, "I have a penus booter und yellie sandwish". Swear to god that's how he pronounced it. Being in 5th grade at the time, we all got a kick out of the "penus booter" pronunciation.

Jelly is popular in Europe. Penus booter is rather oonkommon in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and France. You can buy it but its seldom served in hotels.

I do remember that. Nutella is pretty good stuff and they do make sandwiches with it. Anyone remember Goober Grape where the PB and the jelly were put in the same jar? Do they still sell that?

You knew it had to come up eventually. ;)

What the hell was that? I got embarrassed watching it and no one else is around. I want my 15 seconds back!

By the way? What the hell is peanut butter and jelly?? I'm from Canada.

WTF? How much more explanation does it take. ;)

Alright, look. Take two slices of the freshest white bread you can find (the fresher, the better and wheat is alright, but not as tasty IMHO). Lay them in front of you and on one slice, place a good amount of peanut butter (I prefer crunchy) and get it spread around good. Now, on the other slice of bread, put some jelly (I prefer grape on a PBJ) and cover that slice with it. Put the two slices together (PB against J, just in case you couldn't figure that out, I mean you don't know what it is, right?). Enjoy!

I also highly recommend PB and B (peanut butter and banana). Same concept except replace the jelly with thick slices of banana. Mmmmmm....tasty....

Also, for a real treat, put peanut butter on your waffles in place of normal butter/margarine and then put syrup on them. Mmmmm....PB and waffles pwns.
