Is PC3200 memory holding me up?

At the moment I'm using DDR PC3200 memory (pretty good stuff though = Paired Corsair TwinX C2) Is this memory holding my computer back and if so by how much? %

My system specs are listed below. I'm just wondering if there will be a big leap upgrading to the newer DDR2 as my mobo will take that also. The system runs really quick and is very stable on Vista at the moment.

I will upgrade if there's to be a vast improvement but which DDR2 should I get, I don't fully understand the numbers e.g. PC XXXX nowadays? Or do I just get the max my board will support e.g. DDR2 667Mhz?

TIA

Right! I got Sisoft 1135 but its taking forever to do anything regarding memory. I see the little circle rotating in the rop right corner but even after 15 minutes nothing is showing up and my Windows egg timer is continuously working. Is this correct and if so how long do these benchmarks take?

I tried aida32 benchmarking tool as well and although limited my memory is right at the top of the list however the list doesn't show all the latest modules.

TIA

Hi cprince,

The HD light is lit initially but fades out after about 8 minutes then its as if the program is not responding. I have no indication of progress yet the pie chart (top right) is still active. Even when I stop the program (via task manager) my CPU's are running at 70-80%. I can only assume that this latest version of Sisoft has some sort of bug or its compatibility with Vista is not yet complete 🙁

Do you know of any more up to date programs I could try to get some comparisons please?

TIA

Hi erwas,

I am thinking along those lines too however just wanted some other opinions. I think I would only be upgrading for the sake of it really and to keep up with the latest trends. However its quite a hard pill to swallow after not long ago spending £160 on the memory I have.
