I am.
When I was 16 and just got home from the hospital as a brand new quadriplegic, he personally called me one day. We chatted for about ten minutes, and wished me best of luck with my recovery. Very nice guy.
Apparently one of my classmates' father worked for him, and had mentioned me.
You are a quadriplegic?*
*=Normal OT doubt - no offense intended
Sure am. Since June 1999.
Not that i'm doubting you, because i think it would be pretty sick to lie about somethign like this... but out of curiosity, how do you type? Are you paralyzed completely from the neck down?
No, I'm not completely paralyzed from my neck down. More like my mid chest down. The areas of your body affected depends on the level of the injured vertebrae...in my case C6 (Cervical #6). I can move my arms and wrists, but not my fingers.
Depending on which computer I'm using, I sometimes use a trackball with an on-screen keyboard, and sometimes a normal keyboard and a normal mouse..."recovery" when in regards to spinal cord injury is more in reference to learning how to manipulate everything around you so you can use it - as opposed to actual return of nerve paths.
I
drive, fly a small airplane, etc. It's not bad at all.
