you cant disable GAt, only put it on Auto, turbo, street racer, and F1...no off
As far as Abit IS7 and IS7-E is concerned:
Auto actually disables it. Why would you want to do that? That way you are loosing 5-6% on performance, the performance that puts you on par with 875. If your system is unstable, thank to the memory you have, buy a better memory.
The whole trick of buying Abit IS7 and IS7-E is to use GAT and get the Canterwood performance on Springdale board.
My Abit IS7-E with "street racer" puts up bench numbers like IC7. That is the whole idea of overclocking, pay less and squeeze out more. Though I have to say I see only about 2-3% gain versus "auto". The real trick is step on it using "F1" setings but since my memory is already on 2-3-2-6 I rather keep lower timings than have instabilities.
