Is Parity and nonparity EDO 72 pin memory interchangeable?

I'm buying memory for an ancient computer on ebay. The manual for the GigabyteGA-586HX motherboard doesn't really mention parity, it just says that it has to be 60 or 70 ns EDO 72 pin installed in pairs.

it's been to long but if I recall correctly you want non parity memory and you can't combine types, IE it all needs to be non parity memory. If I recall correctly parity memory was for older systems that had both 30pin and 72pin simms and it was slower than non parity. then again I could be way off base and remembering wrong as it's been many years since I've dealt w/ simms.

I think it was possible to diable parity checking in the BIOS setup when you needed to mix types and just as today, if you put a non-parity (non-ECC) module in the first memory slot, then the extra ECC bits on any other modules are ignored. You should be able to find out for sure using wikipedia or the crucial or Kingston FAQ pages. IAC, why are you messing with such ancient technology when so much better stuff is available so cheap?
. Also check your prices. Crucial still has normal and EDO simms. The price isn't bad if you consider it was $40. or more per MegaByte (That's right, $160. for a 4MB module) not that long ago...
