Republicans accepting Mccain was a bitter pill for them to swallow. Then to add insult they had to swallow his vp pick of Palin. Just smile and pretend all is well in the land of the red elephant.

So if Mccain fails, the red SH*T will hit the fan.
Republicans will turn on Mccain and Palin faster than Mccain vented Palin.
But what about those soccer moms looking to run for future mayor, or governor or local house and senate seats? Palin legacy will have tarnish these future want to be political soccer moms far and wide.

The stigma will be over whelming. ?Oh, there she goes, another Palin soccer mom running for office?. ?Another airhead?.

And Mccain? What furry will the GOP spew upon Mccain after the GOP put up with his ?maverick? ways, and then ended up letting them down.

Do you think there will actually be a ?Palin syndrome? future political soccer moms will have to burden?

the only ones brushing off Palin as a soccer mom are sexist democrats.

if anything, Palin is more popular than McCain with republicans... I think when McCain loses, the blame will fall on Bush, and rightfully so.

republicans really had no chance at winning this year, but I can't imagine that any of the other candidates from the GOP primary would be running better than McCain.

I honestly hope so. What the f**k makes a soccer mom qualified to hold the highest office in our country?

If McCain does not see his shadow on November the fourth, its not rocket science to predict Rush Limbaugh will never shut up. As the rest of responsible Republicans will try to restructure what is left of the GOP.
And by 2012, McCain will be way too old to run again, Palin will be damaged goods, and some younger leaders will emerge to lead the GOP back to a path of responsible conservatism. I look for people like Bohner
and McConnell to be put out to pasture by the start of 2012.

You confuse the words "qualified" and "eligible".

Yes, yes, the only Americans who are not deeply enamored of Sarah Palin as a national candidate are duly registered Democrats AND their only reason is that she is a woman!

Can you smell your own lame BS?

there's tons of reasons to not like Palin. I don't care for her myself.

but how is brushing off a sitting governor as "soccer mom" and ignoring any of her accomplishments not sexist?

She herself is running as a soccer/hockey mom. That's _her_ angle.

You must be joking...her entire campaign is based on her playing the "soccer mom" character, mostly because Republican strategists know that's the only type of woman the Republican base is going to vote for...and she was brought on to help shore up the base. I like strong women, I respect strong women...Sarah Palin is acting like a stereotypical soccer mom. Maybe that's not who she really is, but that's sure as hell the character she's playing in this election. And she's doing it because she's trying to get the support of the same kind of assholes who post HERE on a regular basis about how men need to go back to being manly men, and how feminine thinking is inherently inferior...they're never going to vote for a Hillary Clinton style Republican.

Personally, I think picking Sarah Palin as VP, instead of the many other qualified female Republicans, is about as sexist as you can get. And what makes it worse is that they clearly think women, or anybody interested in seeing a woman in the White House, are dumb enough to fall for it.

I think the stigma you speak of being out in the open is just as important for future female candidates as was Clinton's candidacy. This year on one hand we had a serious, formidable woman candidate as well as a pandering, joke of a woman candidate that is becoming more and more acceptable to ridicule. Before this election people were afraid of dealing with a female candidate like they would a male candidate--for an example just look at Clinton being attacked during her worst debate performance ('being picked on') or Biden's hands-off approach during the last debate. Maybe now we've got that out of our system and can have a more gender-neutral campaign next time around.

She's the one who proclaimed herself a soccer mom, not Dems or liberals or independents, and her obvious lack of depth and basic knowledge and her crass pandering have absolutely nothing to do with her gender.

I, for one, was thrilled that mccain picked such a weak vp. It was obvious pandering - both sexist and fundie. She has sunk herself and helped with the already sinking repug ticket with her lack of just about any qualification (other than adept pandering) for the office. She's done this better than any democratic operative could have hoped to.

But through all of this, it probably has damaged the near-term prospects for female candidates somewhat. But not to worry, voters have any incredibly short memory.

The damage done might be the reputation of a u.s. state. Alaska seems to really be a laughingstock politically. Too bad for them. I'd always heard the state was populated with rugged individualists. It appears that they have no political backbone though.

mccain could be running better with a different vp, however.

Here's hoping she becomes irrelevant after November 4th. We don't need her anywhere near the White House.

How can it be sexist to agree with what she sees herself as?

If the McCain/Palin ticket loses she might even end up not getting re-elected as Governor of Alaska, given her drop in ratings in the state.

It would be if she wasn't the one promoting that image of herself.

Oh yeah, her new 70% approval rating is just so dismal. I'm sure congress would be terrified of having such a low rating.... oh wait, theirs hovers somewhere around 18%.

I'm not a big fan of hers because of her fundamentalist leanings, but I'd still take her over 80% of politicians in DC any day of the week.
