Is paint thinner fine to use on plastics?

Some of that stuff can melt plastic. When I used to paint miniatures, I found that simple green was a great way to remove paint, though I usually left the minis in some SG overnight, so I don't know if you could just slap it on something and have it remove the paint immediately. Is it latex or oil based paint?

Yeah, thinner will break down any poly-based plastic. Not a good idea.

The citrus based cutters should be OK with polymers. ALWAYS check in an inconspicuous area unless you don't mind a crazed, textured appearance. ;)

Latex should peel right off. Thinners usually fog clear plastic. I got automotive paint spray on my plastic headlight lens, had to sand it off and then spray it with a poly clear coat. Depends on the type of plastic, scrape and polish sometimes works OK.
