questions for paying subcribers:
1. how faster the bandwidth will it be?
i am cox cable now (3/128), even so, the loading speed of pages is quite slow to me.

2. is the ful text search that helpful?

3. how soon and what features will Anand add for paying customers?

4. what is your overall rating of it?

dont really need 1000 PM storage, but I NEED BUDDY LISTS :p

If you're using broadband (DSL/cable) you will notice a significant increase in speed. 56k users wouldn't notice as much of a speed increase but no ads would help a little.

<< 2. is the ful text search that helpful? >>

It depends if you have a use for it. I use it on a daily basis looking up past threads it's nice being able to use full text search.

<< 3. how soon and what features will Anand add for paying customers? >>

Huh? We're already getting a lot of features, can you be more specific?

<< 4. what is your overall rating of it? >>

Four stars out of four stars. It's well worth the $2.50 a month it costs, thankfully mine was free for 3 years :D (thanks to the Hot Deals forum, signed up for two bank accounts which gave $50 free per account, applied the free $100 to an AT subscription).

I'm the opposite. I don't even know how to/why I would even need or use the buddy list.

You don't need to be a paying subsriber to have a buddy list. Click on the link which says No new message(s), above view forum polls and you'll see the option to add buddys to your Buddy List.

I've found it extremely usefull.

Even if there where no other features, I've saved much more money from the HotDeals forum and made much more money from the FS/T forum than the $30 I spent to subscribe. Seemed fair to me to give AnAndTech their 'cut' if you would.

With all do respect, it is $30 not $300, what the heck are you looking for????....a T-shirt, Frequent Flyer Milage, Free computer hardware when Anand is done testing it???

Heck, I rate it "Two Thumbs Up". Even if you did not need any of the extra features it is worth supporting one of the top sites on the Net regarding computer news and reviews, tech support, hot deals and a killer FS/FT forum . :)

I disagree with that. I'm running a modem router at home, subscribing has reduced the number of page timeouts I get when browsing from there. It was the reason I subscribed actually. The forums are as fast at home now as they were pre-bandwidth cap.

On my T1 at school, page loads are near instant.

Hmmn that's weird I didn't think 56k users would notice that much of a gain in speed. That's good news though, thanks for sharing.

it's worth it to me just to remove the annoying blinking ads and the rare popup ones. I know AT's policy towards popups but they came through occasionally.
And when I was on dialup at home, it helped tremendously. Now that I have DSL it's even faster. It's so fast at home now, I may turn on Enhanced mode so I can see everyones avatar. Heck, I don't even remember which one i have, plus it would be nice to see the new smileys and rolleyes icons...

Well now that you mention it that's not a bad idea :) Someone should get some use out of it, I hate to think of Anand's lab all cluttered up.

Anybody not renew their subscription for reasons other than financial? Why?

For functional surfing, I think I will HAVE to subscribe.

I wonder if that's their intent?

Are there regulars who HAVENT subscribed yet? Sheesh I thought this was tossed around long ago. Get the subscription and ENJOY your STAY at AT.. :)

Its most necessary for anyone who uses the advanced search, for sale trade board, or uses private messaging alot. And I just HATE banners and popups.

Is it worth it? Hell yea. I enjoy coming here, and want to see these boards around for a long time to come.

I had trouble at work on our T-1's pulling up the forums until i became a subscriber, it works much better now.
