Is P35-DS4 the same as P35-DQ6?

I looked at pictures of the Gigabyte P35-DS4 version 1.0 and it looks identical to the P35-DQ6 version 1.0. When I bought my DQ6 the DS4 wasn't available in the USA. The DS4 revision 2.0 doesn't have the serial and printer connectors and has more USB ports. But considering the price difference between the DQ6 and the DS4 (revision 2) of $72 at Newegg, the DS4 seems to be the one to buy now. I now understand why Gigabyte discontinued the P35-DQ6. It seems to be the same board as the DS4!

They are based on the same PCB but there are hardware differences.
The P35-DQ6 is cancelled because of the X38 series supposedly & not because of the DS4.

I think the differences are slight and insignificant. I've also read about the x38, but I think it has more to do with the DS4 being so similar with the DQ6. At first the DS4 wasn't offered in the USA and now that it is, there is no need to have two boards that are practically the same.

Damn, Newegg jacked up the price of the DQ6 to 259.99. This same board was $229.99 on Newegg last week.

well, I'm not going to bother looking up the Gigabyte website to see exactly but the cooling & mobo power supply circuitry spring instantly to mind.
If you think that the DQ6 & DS4 are similar look at the DS4 & DS3P ...

Marketing, marketing, marketing. Why spend more than $70 for a good P35 overclocking MB (500MHz FSB)? Buy RAID, 1394a, or eSATA card as needed. You have better hardware support, and you can transfer the hardware to another MB.

From looking at the pictures between the DQ6 and DS4, it appears the DQ6 uses a 12 phase power design while the DS4 only has a 6 phase power design.

Yes, I see that now. But I am still confused about the DQ6 and why do they call the 12 phase power, Virtual 12? Is it real or not? Is it true 12 phase power or not?

i dont see any different, i guess it just cleaner and stable power(from gigabyte), but couldnt hurt to have nice features, just like the solid capacitor and ultra durable mosft

I'm confused about Gigabyte's power phases too - I've often read posts on forums by people who know better than I do that it isn't a true 12-phase but a parallel 6 (or something like that)?
