I started 'programming' on a VIC20 when I was a kid. I found one in the trash and my Dad and I fixed it. I used to get those mystery books where parts of the story had to be written into the VIC for the clues to solve the story or plot gaps. I can't remember for the life of me what those books were called (maybe CompuZine or something?), but I had a blast doing them and watching the 'graphics' (usually a screen full of moving characters to simulate a flying bird or something) fill in the missing storyline.

When things get to hot, they explode like an atomic bomb. First you see smoke then it lits up like a nuke and the house goes on fire. Most overclockers keep an eye on their computer for any sign of fire hazard. Usually they do not panic but instead post on forums for sympathy because it makes them feel better if others know about their so called bad overclock. Stability is not their priority, F**King up cpu just for fun is all game to them. If it fries, who cares say the overclockers fanatic. Just RMA and said it's defective? Their chance of acceptable RMA are null because anyone with a brain of a monkey can tell it was overclocked and not defective.

This is getting serious, manufacturers are making it harder and harder for overclockers to achieve their goal by crippling the cpu and making it next to impossible to get anymore then 10 percent increase. These overclockers will put up with anything to achieve their goal all in the name of the need for speed.
It is an addiction and is it not healthy. Their brain works like this:
1=1.5
2=3
3=4.5
5=7.5
7=10.5
10=15

They try to get at least 50 percent increase in speed before they become satisfied but most of the time they do not accomplish this without ruining their beloved cpu. since i'm in a forum full of cpu overclocking hypocrites, they will defend their pride with humourous remarks but I care not as I believe what I say makes more sense then all the overclocking frenzy combined.
Trying to reason with overclockers is futile attempt at best but at least I've tried to smack some sense into them if it helps at all, the more, the blessed they will be. The only cure for overclockers is for them to get in a car, do 200mph disregarding the speed limit on the road. They might die in a wreck, but who cares right? This is in the name of speed proving for once and all that speed can kill if done excessively.

Do you have a mental disorder? Seriously?
are you a tard? go bang your head against the wall? Seriously?

Just because it's illegal doesn't mean these hard headed overclockers will stop what their doing much like speeding. Who drives at the speed limit??? Has the IQ of these so called secret society dropped that much in recent years?

oh well, smokes your computer I care not it is not my computer I am damaging but I've tried to discourage others of this illegal and immoral practices. Flame me all you like, I care not. if you're talking crap just to get a response out of me, you got me wrong. I think the majority here are just obsessive with illegal activity modding their hardware so they can brag about it.
You've never seen me exploded numerous times because joe a goes too far? god, when will you people learn that its not nice to tick someone off for no good reason? since they can't win their argument they resort to useless flaming and name calling. that's really constructive and very mature :roll:

You still refuse to answer my question. Show me the proof, and I'll be satisfied. Until then, you're pulling things (specifically, this stuff about overclocking being "illegal" and "immoral") out of somewhere... and without showing us proof, we are only left to assume that "somewhere" is not a law book.

Overclocking in a nutshell is the illegal act of running a computer's CPU at a higher clock speed than that mandated by the manufacturer. By altering the settings on the BIOS of your motherboard, it is possible to fool your computer into running faster than the manufacturer's permitted speed limit. This results in a short term gain for the overclocker, but it is not without risk to the wallet, or the environment.

To quote the US Dept of Energy and the EPA: "Staying within the speed limit is not only a matter of safety and obeying the law, it can also save you money."

Where is your proof of so called "overclocking is legal"?
Most speeder think it is legal to speed and even tries to argue with a cop that it is their rights to speed. How far did they get? :Q:shocked:

You are an idiot. Look here and notice that ATi has SPONSORED an overclocking competition! Now, if it was really illegal, do you think a company like ATi would do that? I don't think so. Do you think that motherboard manufacuturs would build overclocking options into their boards if it was illegal? Do you think that ram manufacturers would make overclocking ram if overclcoking was illegal? Of course they wouldn't; they would be breaking the law. You are full of crap. As far as whether overclocking is "immoral" that's your opinion, although I think you've found that few people agree with you.

Dude, even that link says that USDoE/EPA line is in regards to CARS not PC's. And right after saying it's 'illegal' he says this is his thinking and 'preaching' and not reality. Don't quote some BS website (that's probably yours anyway). Find any City, State, or Federal law that says overclocking is illegal. BTW you don't have to prove something is legal - it's innocent until proven guilty, remember?

Exactly! Cars and PCs, speeding and overclocking - these things comparable not are, hmm...

You're going to have to prove that I'm guilty; you can not assume that. So, here and here are a few places for you to start. Show me the link that directly proves that overclocking is illegal - not using some flawed (or, outright ridiculous) pseudo-analogy to cars and speeding - and I'll shut up and accept that I'm wrong. I'm waiting...

I was just making sure you didn't forget to take any possible medication(s) your doctor(s) may have prescribed you. Posting in such an idiotic and irrationaly sense with absolutely no anchor to reality made me think you may be pyscotic or perhaps have schizophrenia.

Just trying to help...

I'm gonna assume that last paragraph is for RobCur because I totally agree with you, ProviaFan.
By comparing speeding cars to OC' PC's he's comparing Apples to Intels ... oh wait, that doesn't work anymore. :D

Yes, that last paragraph was for him... I should have made that clearer. :)

Instead of the traditional apples and oranges, it's more like he's comparing apples and dildos... there's no comparison whatsoever. :D

Wow, by underclocking our pc's, we could've avoided the california energy crisis...

I feel so horrible about overclocking now :(

I think that Rob is just out TYRING to pull people's cranks. I think he's also getting some good laughs.

The link for the site he gave kinda reminds of The Onion
And if you are ever in need of a good laugh, go read the onion. Just don't take it seriously (or him for that matter).

I love the article in on building your own PC. If anyone actually considered this site factual and true, then read this article Building your own PC and then ask if it is serious or not. If you don't read it, he tells you to buy an Abit KT7-Raid (mind, this was written in 2001) and buy a P4 to put in it. Have fun trying that.

I just spewed iced coffee on my desk reading that!
I'm pretty sure I've seen an apple used as a dildo before though, in 'Teachers Petting' or something: (__:shocked:__)

He's not intelligent enough to even cook up a stunt, let alone use english grammar correctly.
