is Optimum Online the fastest cable/DSL/consumer broadband network in the US? (NJ/NY/CT 10Mbps dn/1 Mbps up)

10 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up

RR is 2-3 Mbps down, 384 Kbps up
even Comcast Pro doesn't match up in terms of speed (3.5 Mbps down, 384 Kbps up)
DSL...? forget about it.

Don't know if it's the fastest in the country but it is the fastest available service in the area.

I've had it since they made it available and I haven't had any downtime since the very first month. The only negative are the 3 price increases over the past year.

I highly doubt it. I know Surewest offers "fiber" broadband where I live. I have it at home and it supposedly is 10MBps up and down, although I've only gotten half of that up and down. Still beats cable or dsl though, and it's practically the same price.

wow, 10 Mbps UP is awesome. where in cali? how much do u pay a month?

Fastest I can get is 2mb/256 (Charter) - it sucks. I'd easily pay more for more bandwidth, but I don't have any options. Some other parts of Wisconsin have Road Runner and get 3mb/384, which is somewhat better... Optimum Online or some other broadband called something West need to come here, stat!

SBC has 1.5-6mb/512 DSL available in limited areas, but your distance from the CO must be very short to qualify.

I think I need to move to Korea or Sweden.

My ISP sucks balls.

Promised 2 mbs down / 512 mbs up.

What I get is: 256 kbs down / 64 kbs up.

2048 kbit = 256 K/sec
512 kbit = 64 K/sec

Well no, they dont promise 2 mbit speed, they promise 2 megabytes down / 512 megabytes up.

Maybe I am wording it wrong but I am getting 1/8th of the speed I was promised.
