Is one manufacturer's 125Mbps wireless compatible with another manufacturer's 125Mbps wireless device?

Question I have is regarding the claimed 125Mbps speed. Is this compatible with other manufacturer's devices for the boosted speed? I have some Buffalo Tech parts that claim the same speed and just bought some Zyxel parts that claim the same speed. Also, I have a Netgear router that does 108Mbps and I've seen SMC devices that claim 140Mbps (longer e-peen?). I'm thinking that the ones claiming the same speed may be compatible with each other if they use the same chipsets... anyone try this out?

I believe the 125Mbps spec is for atheros-based products, so 125Mbps products might be able to work together.

As for netgear's 108 and SMC, you're out of luck. they use channel bonding, MIMO, and a bunch of other technologies.
