is one JRE better than the others?

I just setup my first Linux box and i'm rather confused as whose Java virtual machine i should use. I'm running the latest debian net install. It looks like i have the option of using suns, IBMs, blackdowns, and BEAs. on top of that there seem to be a few open source alternatives but i get the impression there not fully functional?
any suggestions?

Get Sun's if the versions is at least 1.4

The open source ones are not totally there yet but they are making good progress. Use whatever works for you as IBM's and BEA's are at least as good as sun's.
