I read a review on it, and it seems like it has some useful features Office 2000 doesn't have. Of course, you'll have to activate Office XP.

I'll stick with StarOffice ;)

It's an excellent program.... Microsoft Office helps you complete common business tasks, including word processing, e-mail, presentations, data management and analysis, and much more. See how the newest version, Office XP?with features like smart tags, task panes, integrated e-mail, document recovery, and send for review?can help you work smarter.

Thank-you for your interest,

Yes!

It enables you to save in a format which makes it incompatible with older versions of Office!

It's great!

If you didn't get it I was being sarcastic.

Seems to be much slower to me. Outlook in particular is super slow.

I've been running XP but I'm switching back to Office 2000.

is office 2k any good? is office 97? Office XP is NOTHING new. M$ just made it pretty and hoped people would pay more for a bunch of crappy new features. Not worth the money or even the time to warez. Although, updated spell checker is tempting :p

Pyro, I believe that even with a valid key...you still have to activate OffieXP within 50 uses or it goes into a "reduced function" mode or something like that.

Some developer editions don't have this, maybe some others, but I know XP Pro does...I have it, installed it, removed it, back to 2K...strictly due to the activation process. I have been unable to find a way around activation (if you do PM me :) )

I have noticed XP Outlook is way slower than Outlook 2000.

Shinerburke are you on an Exchange 5.5 network too by chance?

Yes, we are on Exchange 5.5 here. Outlook 2002(XP) is also slow at home as well.

i use office xp in conjunction with our exchange 2000 server, and it works fine. i'm on a k6-2 400 w/ 128mb of ram, and it's snappy. to pick up some speed, make sure that you are *NOT* using ms-word as your default e-mail editor; it's slow as a snail.

There are cd-keys and other "things" that make it so you don't have to register. I wouldn't *happen* to know any of those, though [wink wink nudge nudge].

As for incompatible file formats, that is only true with access databases; the word 2002 .doc files are perfectly compatible with word 2000.

well I gotta agree, its not worth the money, but I can spare 2 hrs to download it :D

I'm getting it since I don't feel like waiting for my friend to give me back my Office2k cd.

I'm sure astalavista or google will assist me in activating it ;)

well, just finished with a test drive, and I must say I am both impressed and pleased.

the new handwriting thing actually does what 70% of humans cannot. It recognizes my handwriting!

It also looks nice, performance is not an issues (all office apps run nicely on todays comps)...

now let's see how to activate it

I have a friend who has had this for over 3 months. It works fine for him and he didn't have to activate it if you know what I mean.
