Hi all,

I'm building a new system and im not sure what to get for ram. i will probably want to oc it sometime, and im wondering if I will still get a good overclock with corsair value select. Or should i spen some extra money on better ocing ram (twinmos value $95, Ocz value $99).

Thanks in advance

OCZ Value or Twinmos value.

If your overclocking and can provide these chips the right voltage they're worth the extra $20 bucks.

Probably not. Just run a divider on the corsair value select and you can OC it as much as you want. I have 1 gb of corsair VS and I have my 3000+ winchester oc'ed to 2.4 ghz from default 1.8. :)

Yes, provided you can supply the voltage, the value vx is doing about ~240fsb at 2-2-2 with a 1:1 ratio. To give you an idea of what Corsair VS can do, check my sig.

VS wont run tight timmings or reach high fsb.

IMO if he has the Ultra-D and can supply the volts, $20 is nothing.

or you could just get memory that is rated for higher clockspeed, PC-3500 or even PC-4000 would definately allow you to oc.

Listen the best value ram you can buy for the nf-4 dfi board is the value vx. You can get 2-2-2 timings running the ram 1:1 at 240fsb. That's at least 240fsb, I've heard of people reaching higher. You just can't do that with Corsair VS or other value ram. Here is a review proving this:

The roundup dosn't review the corsair or twinmos though...

People who have oced their ram, can you actually see a noticeable difference?

AT does not need to review the twinmos. Twinmos has the same chips as vx, even the same pcb.

Corsair VR overclocks at about DDR 420 2.5-3-3. YMMV with this ram, but I would say that is about average. Many have a hard time getting this ram to CAS 2 @ DDR 400.
