Is Obama benefitting from all the media attention on Palin?

I believe it may be. But does anyone have post-Bristolgate poll data?

People were complaining that Obama was merely a media phenomena, a celebrity. I agreed to some extent. But now it appears that the media is focused on Palin. This attention away from Obama lessens the media phenomena angle and it also decreases Obama-fatigue that some people may have been experiencing. All in all, it makes Obama look more like a president and less like a celebrity.

(Yes, this is another Sarah-Palin-related thread. This is P&N and she's running for vice-president of the United States. People are obviously interested in discussing Palin. If you're not, you don't have to post.)

Must be why he lost 8 points in the poll week over week

Nope, because the media and "blogosphere" walked right into Karl Rove's trap. Now the "liberal media" looks bad, and Palin is immune from criticism of any kind.

He loses 8 points in ONE poll, he has gained or remained the same in the rest. I wonder why you're focused on just one 🙂

BTW, that cbs poll was out of whack all last week until the weekend anyway. We'll see where the gallup and raskassmussen polls are tommorow. McCain should have taken about 2-3 points in those.

I think we should withhold the answer this questions until after the debates - at least until we know what she's capable of as a VP candidate.

I agree, the idiot bloggers killed Obama on that. If they had not taken the bait on whole 'fake pregnancy' thing, this election might now be over. How in the world would the Republicans have revealed Bristol's pregnancy without that get-out-of-jail-free card? Just call a random press conference and say "we want to raise taxes on the poor, reduce them for the upper 5%, and give healthcare to no one, oh, and by the way, Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant"? Would they have said nothing and just stood their silently as Bristol's belly grew and grew down the election homestretch? We'll never know now.

From what I understand, everyone in already Alaska knew, so it was bound to come out sooner than later.
I think the McCain camp then conveniently blamed the press, the blogosphere and of course Obama for having to disclose it. Plus she was showing at the first stump speech.

Just my humble opinion here, but I do believe it is just a tad bit too early to tell if there is a real impact being that she just made her acceptance speech last night. She has only been in the national spotlight for a few days.

All the comparisons between Palin and Obama seem a bit out of place to me as they aren't running for the same position. I fully understand the argument that she could be in the Oval Office in an instant, but that is not the position she is running for. Folks could also make points on who benefits from these comparisons more. Honestly all that should be set aside to compare the two Presidential candidates.
