Is NVS 450 enough?

I just bought a used NVS 450 because it has 4 DP ports. I have two 27" 1440p monitors hooked up to it right now, but am having problems. If I play a video on one screen, and do something else (surf internet, etc) on the other, I get very bad stutters on the video. It even stutters if the video is the only thing playing. Is that card just not powerful enough?

Thanks,

An NVS 450 is an EXTREMELY slow card. Even when it was brand new it was a very low end card for workstations that needed to do very basic things in programs that required a quadro.

I am not surprised it is having trouble driving two 1440P displays. Just about everything that plays video these days uses the GPU to do it. And that card just does not have very much performance for doing this and other things.

But, there is a possibility you have another issue. So, are you using the latest drivers from nVidia's website for it? If not, update and see if it improves. You may also be running into an issue where it is trying to play video at idle clocks, because it is not detecting that it should be clocking up.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses. I did try just one monitor, it is still slow. I also tried a fresh install (needed it anyway) and the most current drivers, all to no avail. I think Stuka is correct, this card is just too under-powered for my purposes. I guess I will just have to sell it and get something else. Sorry for the delayed response by me, busy week. If anyone knows a card with at least 2 display ports (3 or 4 would be better) which would be satisfactory I would appreciate it.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I had one running four displays and never had an issue. Two were at 1920x1080 and the other two were at 1280x1024.

So you did check that you had the latest drivers? It's worth checking before selling that card.

Connect both 27" displays and try lowering the resolution. If you don't have lag sub-1080p then it will be quite clear that the card cannot drive the displays.

He could, but they use a passive cooler, so they wont take much.

Also taking the tower outside into the snow will help bring higher overclocking abilities 🙂
jk....
