Is Nvidia Stock a HOT DEAL???

Hello all,

I've been watching NVIDIA and other stocks for the last 3 years now. There was a time about 2 years around October where I was very disappointed to see my beloved NVIDIA Stock hit 7$ when I had bought it for 18$. Thankfully within a few months the NVDA share price recovered and I was able to sell for about 22$.


So today I see NVDA has plunged down to a 9-10$ range. How do you other tech/market junkies feel about this? Are there fundamental issues with NVIDIA?s long term future prospects that make this a risky buy?

Doom 3 seems to run great on NVIDIA cards and I am sure Half-life 2 will also run well (but maybe not as well as on ATI cards).

So if anyone is interested let me know your opinions, on what in my opinion seems like a great 0.5-2 year long term investment in NVDA.

It's really hard to say. ATI is stealing nvidia's market. That's why their profit dropped 79%!!! Another thing to note is that dell is now offering ati cards instead of nvidia. Also, next generation consoles, xbox I think, is switching over to ati as well. In the open market, they might be 50-50. Long term...maybe, if they can hold their market share, but it's really not looking good right now.

i would never invest in nvidia or ATI, just too risky, i mean, video card companies have been known to go out of business on short notice, 3dfx, s3, diamond, etc.

well, with 3dfx at least, there were definitely some clear signs things weren't going so well.

I just bought 80 shares @ 11.41 today around 11am PST. it's at 11.70 at closing tonight. I was going to buy it last night but my scottrade account hadn't gone through yet.
This is my first big investment. <crosses fingers>
