Is NVIDIA going to get their 8800 Vista driver out in time?

With all the current bugs in the latest 8800 XP driver and no sign of a Vista driver I'm really starting to worry.

Is NVIDIA going to come through or drop the ball? I want to pick up Vista on day one and this would really ruin my plans.

What do you guys think?

Relax bro...there will be vista drivers for the G80 by the end of next week at the very latest.

From the little I have heard/read, the G80 DX10 driver has been in decent shape for awhile and getting faster / more stable (a friend of mine is working on a DX10 game so he would know).

As the XP and Vista driver are completely different, the bugs in the first have little to no bearing on the Vista driver. Likely, they have seperate teams working on the two drivers. I would expect them to hold it back until right before the Official launch even if it was more or less release-able now.

Vista should ship with a working driver, there's already a leaked one @ Guru3D. Also, the Vista booth at CES was running games on 8800s according to AT's reports with very little issues.

Yep- the shipping versions of Vista have the G80 driver already.(See OS section of forums on peeps that have bought the OEM versions that just started selling.)

Worst case scenario - nVidia offially releases the Dec.14 100.30 that was already leaked about a week ago. Stability and performance seemed to be sound with them, atleast from what I read from the few who were quick to grab them.

Otherwise, strategically / marketing, they'll probably release it as close to Vista as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if they released it Monday, or even Jan. 30 itself.

From what I've been reading so far its no better then the beta versions that have been around for a few weeks now... time will tell.
