Is NV ever going to spin up a new card for the under $100 price bracket ever again?

Because of APU's, there is no market there. Intel and AMD have started to get some pretty fast integrated cards out. Next gen with HBM, if Intel or AMD use it (On APUs), it will devour an even bigger chunk of the low to mid range market.

I think the dropping price of chips like i7-2600 means there is opportunity (especially with refurbished SFF pre-built which are also dropping in price).

For multi-threaded apps, a used i7-2600 still beats a i5-4670K. This at almost half the price.

Not yet btw how many monitors or HDTV's support HDMI 2.0 you think?

Better yet, how much of the media you are watching is in 4K? 4k seems to be just a way to sell a new generation of more expensive TVs...and aside from a few test videos circulating on the net there's not even any native 4K content available...

YouTube and Netflix both have 4K content. Its far from being everywhere, but there certainly is content out there.

Is it Maxwell v2 though, with GDDR5?

GM108 is Maxwell v1.

If we get these I expect there would be a 256 CUDA core version with 64 bit DDR3 and a 384 CUDA core version with 64 bit GDDR5 (and maybe 64 bit DDR3).

Unfortunately I don't think these chips have H.265 though.

With the rise of more powerful integrated graphics, there really isn't going to be as much of a need for sub $100 graphics cards.

We'll probably get a Maxwell based card at some point, though.
