Yes, because reality has a left wing bias.

Yes, when you are a poor college student who just wants to smoke some dope and redistribute wealth. Then you grow up.

Interestingly enough, it worked the other way around for me. The more I grow up, the MORE liberal I become. Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed that paying taxes hasn't turned me into some kind ultra-Republican, but then again, likes like your's always sounded more like marketing bullshit than reality.

Really, the only people I ideologically feel sorry for are idiots like you. Not because you're conservative, but because you're so narrow minded I doubt you've ever had a new idea in your entire life. Left, right, whatever...the important thing is whether or not you THINK about what you think. And when someone adopts the point of view that every other idea is automatically bad, they stop thinking.

I totally agree, I listen to NPR on my way to work and back and I keep getting this feeling that they are not totally unbiased, I do feel their strong left inclination from time to time...

I listen to NPR because it is generally unbiased, that show, however, falls into your left-wing nuttery region. I've heard it present things that are plain wrong - case point they had a guy on, talking about the oil shortage. His solution was to tax oil companies, because "they're ripping off costumers with their prices". I don't tolerate this kind of faux-intellectual sham.

All things considered, talk of the nation, this American life are fantastic shows that focus on current issues (as opposed to the garbage news on cable). Democracy now is to objective coverage what Hannity is to journalism.

Democracy Now /= NPR. It's produced by Pacifica and some NPR stations carry it, but it not made by NPR.

Democracy now comes on TV where I live. I've seen it when I channel surf but never lingered. The video is horrible. I haven't heard it on the radio and I listen to a lot of NPR on my commute and on the road. Best source for news and current events (NPR).

My favorite program? Cartalk

^^ Co-signed, cartalk is awesome!

For some reason I can never get my wife to listen to car talk; she always wants to turn off the radio the moment it comes on. :(

Where I live, the NPR station instead has jazz, local musician night, and other niceties, but no Democracy Now. From the sounds of it, the local musician night is a better show.
About as interesting to her as, say, a show about knitting might be to you.

Not quite. My wife doesn't know much about cars, but if she happens to be stuck in the car with me while cartalk is on she will listen for their corny jokes.

Juddog you can download the latest cartalk show mp3 here:
See the first link (for some reason the npr website will not open for me right now.

I don't get it - why strive to have unbiased programming and then let on this drivel?

It is a Commie conspiracy by the people who listen to NPR, and then pledge and contribute their money to keep Democracy Now on the radio, which you probably don't do.

I would definitely listen to a show about knitting if it were presented by the Click and Clack of knitting needles.

I think I have found out why some of you have to post here instead of DU. Even they wont put up with such meaningless personal attacks and childish language.

Is putting people down supposed to make them think thier arguments are somehow invalid, due to your superior name-calling abilities?

A lot of this simply comes out of frustration at this point. There are quite a few people posting on here about politics, ideologies, etc. that don't even understand the definitions of the words they are trying to use. Then they try to argue about them. Trust me, for at least myself and Vic we haven't called people stupid the first time this has happened, or the second, or the third. By the 20th or so, it gets a bit old.

Hehe me too. To me they are funny no matter what they talk about. They would be a hit even if they were cooks!

Since when do we tax wealth? And don't say estate tax that is like 0.00001% of revenue.
So the person making $100k does 1% of the work and push down 99% of it to the peon making <$99k?

I can see how you think though. You would have made a very good government official in the USSR. Chavez would love you.

Where's McCarthy when you need him and there is actually a threat.

I listen to democracy now because it's the only place to hear about certain news that would never make it into the MSM. I'd say they have a liberal bias in the same way that Steven Colbert says reality has a liberal bias.

Good show, imo.

I only just started listening/watching a few months ago, but I don't think I've ever witnessed anything like this. They have transcripts of all their shows going back to 96.. Maybe it's in there somewhere?
