I listen to NPR a lot, they have rather unbiased news coverage and pretty solid international exposure. The only show I can't stand is Democracy now... 9 out of 10 times they discuss issues between the left wing host and the so-far-left-he-can't-even-see-hilary-clinton guest.

I don't get it - why strive to have unbiased programming and then let on this drivel?

Our if you are an upper income person who wants to really know what goes on in Guantanamo Bay. Democracy Now is an investigative show that doesn't propose any policies.

If you use "liberal" as a slur, you are fucking idiot.

Democracy now is not NPR, it is Pacifica an independent news producer that airs on 700 stations OK?

Democracy Now is not on NPR in my area, forget the network, but it isn't npr, it actually competes with the NPR morning show.

And you can't stand it because it tells you thinks you don't want to know and don't want to hear. You will always be an ignoramus because of your preference for your bias over broad exposure to the world. 24 years old on your way to two.

Those who use Liberal as a slur are living in the '80s, when reagan was king.

Liberals know that label is tainted...they try and soften it with "progressive".

Progressive is a type of liberalism, dumbass.

Liberalism itself is a very broad political philosophy. Even American conservatism is actually a type of liberalism. If the label has been tainted, then that was done by morons with no knowledge of liberalism's proud history, particularly in the founding of this great nation. Now you could easily argue that Jefferson's liberalism wasn't exactly the same as today's liberalism, but that doesn't change the fact that he proudly called himself a liberal.

edit: On topic, I've never listened to the show. Seriously, I hate talk radio of any kind. I was just skimming the board and felt compelled to reply to this. Sorry for butting in on the thread. :p

I've not heard it, but otherwise I do think NPR is the best media source out there, if I had to pick a single one. It has WAY LESS BULLSH*T than CNN, faux news, etc.

Democracy now is an independantly run and paid for show. Some local NPR stations have decided to air it, it is not however an NPR show.

Yep, Democracy Now is a liberal circle jerk. I used to listen to it on Pacifica. It's not made by NPR or one of its affiliates

Democracy now comes on TV where I live. I've seen it when I channel surf but never lingered. The video is horrible. I haven't heard it on the radio and I listen to a lot of NPR on my commute and on the road. Best source for news and current events (NPR).

My favorite program? Cartalk

^^ Co-signed, cartalk is awesome!

For some reason I can never get my wife to listen to car talk; she always wants to turn off the radio the moment it comes on. :(

Where I live, the NPR station instead has jazz, local musician night, and other niceties, but no Democracy Now. From the sounds of it, the local musician night is a better show.

About as interesting to her as, say, a show about knitting might be to you.

On the plus side Democracy Now is willing to take a half hour to present an issue that takes a half hour to present, as opposed to 20 seconds on commercial news shows or 60 seconds on an in-depth NPR spot.

On the negative side, Amy Goodman will cut off folks she is interviewing if they express views she doesn't like. Her sidekick, Juan ???, doesn't do that.
