you didn't even look at the prices of new ones before buying the refurb?

Eh, what's done is done. I agree with others, the 360 is probably the worst refurb deal in the last decade. Take it back if you can, and get a new one next week.

Agreed. Play hardball with them and tell them someone commandeered your account and purchased the item. Then call your credit card company and tell them about that specific order. Tell them you didn't order it and you are trying to work with Buy.com to return the product. Don't ease up on them.

So in other words, you'd like him to lie, cheat and behave in generally fraudulent behavior?

More like CasioTech 2.0 everyday!

listen a*****e, I called him out on that.

absolutely not, if you haven't already bought an xbox, now is not the time to buy a system which will be dead soon. If you waited this long you should have just bought a ps3 because that's where all the cutting edge games will be in the future. All I see for xbox is a bunch of rehashed games.

Which developers are abandoning Xbox 360 development?

Just got my repaired one back, so I'm now one of the "trade your 3-yr warranty up to a 2 monther" club members. The repair process was quite painless, I might add, and the original unit lasted almost two years.

If you indeed going for a new one, just make sure to sit it on its side and try to use an aftermarket cooler. Not sure by running a Falcon how much this is overkill, but it's probably best to be more safe than sorry.

I personally, haven't had many problems with Buy.com, with the exception of seeing a great buy get advertised for less down the road.

I'm not sure I understand the warranty downgrade... is it a 1 time fix?

Not sure what he was talking about there. A lot of people have gone through multiple 360s.

That would be fraudulent and unethical. Don't encourage scams here.

That's right. I like you.

What's so fraudulent about trying to return an item you've had second thoughts about and you haven't even opened? If they refused to budge, I will say those exact same things and not feel any guilt. I'm not making any money off the transaction. I'm not trying to defraud them. I just changed my mind. If they can't accept that, then they'll have to deal with my "unethical" behaviour.

If a corporation can stick to the letter of the law (and not the spirit of the law), well, I can go that same route. They ain't no charity and neither am I.

Why should he be stuck with a product just because he made a bad choice?

Because he was the one that made that bad choice? You're supposed to learn from these situations, not find ways to continue being an idiot.

Why are we even discussing defrauding Buy.com when they haven't even refused to let him return it? 😕

Bad is subjective. Buy.com isn't some bazaar with disappearing merchants. He can change his mind if he chooses.

If you lie to them to get them to take back an item contrary to their terms of service, of course you are trying to defraud them. What do you think "defraud" means?

Well then, defraud it is. They can write whatever they please in their terms of service. But if I don't like their ToS, I WILL get my money back. Lesson learned and no more Buy.com.
