Is now the time to buy a new card?

So i've got a 7900GT OC currently....it works great in games, and worked great in XP. However Vista drivers seem to be kaput. Every now and then I will randomly get "the video card driver has stopped responding, vista was able to recover it"

I get it all the time, regardless of what I'm doing...games, just browsing, using media player...

So i am wondering if its just the 7900 series...or what. I could see purchasing an 8800GTS 320mb card, IF that has no issues in vista.

What are other people doing - this is really starting to get frustrating having to deal with this crap on a daily basis in vista.

If you wait, you'll be waiting forever. Eventually, you'll have to knuckle down and say 'Now is the time for me to buy!'

However, with the upcoming launch of the R600 cards in a week, it would be advisable to wait until after that. Even if you don't want an R600, its launch should effect prices on the 8800s.

Since you already have a decent card in the 7900, despite the vista issues, you can afford to wait a little. Getting an 8800 may or may not solve your problem either, their vista drivers seem to be pretty crappy too.

you should definately wait untill at least one directx 10 game is out.. dude.. it makes no sense to upgrade your excellent 7900gt card now just for the premium of dx10 when not a single game is out that can use it. if you wait you'll get a shot at nvidia's refresh card, and you'll either save some cash or get more performance for the same money you'd spend today

Well the 7900 GT may be a good card...but the vista issues are getting to the point that I cannot stand it. Its like I get weird random pixel lines across my monitors...sometimes when watching a movie I get what looks like 20-50 dead pixels that randomly flash, not always int he same spots so i know the panel is fine.

Sometimes I get this giant triangle on the bottom of my screen with the top of the triangle in the center of my screen. Its so random because it happens on both monitors (dual 2407FPW's)

I guess if the nvidia drivers just suck, then a new graphics card won't fix that...
