well i am planning on building a computer in the near future here are my 2 options..

- Option Number 1 - start ordering parts at the end of this week and the beggging of the next week ...
or
- Option Number 2 - i wait a month or two...

im just not sure what to do... i have the money now but im not sure if it would be smarter for me to wait to get better deals ?? or has the market been pretty steady lately ?

any words of wisdom or comments would be awsome ! or questions ..

thanks,
McFly !

the longer you wait, the cheaper parts are gonna get but that is always true. i mean, in a month or two you can tell yourself if i wait another month or two prices will be cheaper. i recommend waiting for nividias 5900 ultra to come out and see what kind of effect ot has on video card prices and go from there. it should be out in 2 weeks, max

for MANY MANY different reasons...

It's NEVER a good time to upgrade. :) As soon as you buy something, something better is going to come out really soon, but you can't change that.

But computer parts these days are amazingly cheap, so I say go for it. I don't think I can wait a month if I were you.

It's weird how computer component prices work.

I ordered two sticks of Corsair 512MB PC3200 and they were $95.20. I check back later that night and they are $115! I saved $40 just because I ordered a few hours earlier. Kind of strange really...

either start buying now, or wait till launch of athlon64 on sept for more price drops. no more price drops will happen for amd and intel for now. ram is cheap, don't really see it getting cheaper than it is right now.

why would memory go up in price ??

government just slapped a tariff on some korean memory company, not sure which.

that and the traditional back to school demand spike

SH*T! I was gonna buy that ram too.

I dont understand why prices wouldnt go down in two months though. Every item in my wishlist has dropped in price, except for that ram (over the last few weeks). Maybe it'd be smart to just buy ram now? Or is it possible that other components will rise with back to school demand?

I've never bought a computer before, but I was always under the impression that prices pretty much always went down over time.

If you don't need the upgrade now, then wait around for the release of the Athlon 64 and Prescott.
