And that's why I have Symantec AntiVirus in combination with ZoneAlarm :). Symantec AntiVirus is NOT a resource hog, and ZoneAlarm enables me to only give SAV internet access when updating my virus definitions :D.

Corporate's not that bad but there are still lighter alternatives.

I would have to disagree, to a point.

If you're only looking at hard drive and memory usage, no Symantec is fine.

But if you're looking at the performance hit a system takes by running it with default settings, then it can be quite a bear.

Why would anyone install Norton in the first place?

Even if it it's not spyware, it most definately is bloatware. And it's not even that good at what it does.

So you must be running a Linux box then, since WinDoze is the biggest bloatware of them all.

Why not just disable Live Update and just use NAV to check dl's, scripting, email.

Windows, unfortunately, is essential if you want to run the latest and greatest games regardless of how much the user dislikes bloatware.

Haha, ya norton sucks. I remember back in '00, they were great, which probably explains why so many people switched to norton.. But then by '03 they turned to crap and were effectively worthless. I'd get kaspersky, it has the highest detection rate out of all of them.
