Is Norton 2004 pro AV worth using?

I got it on a deal from Buy. com $30 rebate, and $30 rebate for owning a Norton product. I paid $60 so yeah, it's free (after rebates).

I pulled the trigger before I read about it, and while it reviews well, many users hate it because it really slows up the system.

So it's not a cost thing. I don't like programs that slow me down too much.
It's unopened so I can RMA it for the cost of postage and be out a few bucks and not have to mess with the rebates, no biggie.

I am currently using Avast AV product which works well and causes no headaches.

What would you do?

Hey if it's free, it's all good. But anyway, i've read about some people saying Norton missed a few viruses while other AV's caught em, but my friend has it installed and it works pretty good for him. The biggest complaint I keep reading about is that it simply hogs too many resources.
