i currently have at&t cell phone service and have an opportunity to sell my at&t phone. I was considering nextel service, but can't seem to find any good deals out there.

It depends on your area. Where I live, Nextel is awesome. No problems and the service is great. You will pay for the service though.

My wife and I have 500 anytime minutes/unlimited nights and weekends/unlimited direct connect for $45 per phone. No complaints here. :)

Nextel in NYC and surrounding is pretty good, but they are expensive if you don't know anyone with other nextels since you can't use the "radio" feature. Plus their phones are expensive (but nice, new i95 is cool) and rebates aren't as good as some providers.

Att plain sucks in a lot of areas including dropped calls, poor signal strength, etc. But my plan is essentially free and so is the phone so i'll use it.

I don't have experience w/ Nextel, but AT&T has been awesome for me. I have friends and family who complain constantly w/ Sprint and Verizon.

Do you spend around 100 bucks a month on cell phone usage? AT&T's GSM service has unlimited minutes for $99 month now....good deal if you need the minutes.

I think cellphones are all a matter of personal preference. I had AT&T and didn't like it at all. My father has AT&T and loves it. I've got friends who curse Sprint and I have other who praise it. Same goes with Verizon. I've got T-Mobile (Voicestream) and others hate it. The kind of phone also greatly affects the service as well. I've got a V60g and my signal strength would be great but I decided to replace the antenna with a small chrome nub that looks much nicer.

Nextel phones are great if you know others with the Nextel service, or travel alot to areas with nextel service.

Downside:
High price rates if you dont use the radio features
No roaming service... if you go out of a nextel service area.. your phone is dead

upside:
RADIO
if you're out of state, but in a nextel service area... no roaming charges, all calls local (if on Nextel National Plans)
Long battery life
it's NEXTEL :D
