Is Newegg any good these days?

Not sure if this is the right forum but I've seen some RAM at Newegg that's £60.00 cheaper than the best on Amazon, never used them but they get great rating on Resellerratings but terrible on trustpilot. Anyone think they're reliable? I'm based in the UK by the way.

Is this a serious question, or are you making a funny?

If serious, yes they reliable and trustworthy. I've used them for PC parts (along with others like Amazon) close to 20 years, and many here will have as well. However, I don't buy from many of the marketplace sellers they have on their site because many of them aren't the best. But if it's sold and shipped by Newegg, you will be fine.

Serious question, I've read glowing reports on old threads from 2001 and torrents of abuse from threads in 2013 saying they had gone to the dogs, having never used them I just wanted an up to date opinion. Thanks for the feedback though, RAM seems to be from Newegg themselves so that's a positive.

There's horror stories with any retailer. People are a lot more likely to write about a bad experience rather than a good one.

I had an issue with a Newegg order back in December. The video card I bought developed a bad fan bearing several weeks after I bought it. I sent it back for a replacement (video cards are return for replacement only), and instead they refunded me my money, but also charged me $60 for an AMD game promo code that I got for free when I bought the card. I eventually got in touch with one of their supervisors, and she took care of me. All companies screw up from time-to-time, but the good ones fix it when they are in the wrong.

OK, maybe the poor reports were from marketplace sellers, posters weren't specific unfortunately.

They probably have different companies in their marketplace over in the UK, but there are only a couple of companies in their marketplace here that I would order from. Same thing with Amazon and many of the sellers on there. Unless I know exactly who they are, I avoid them.

Strangely there doesn't seem to be a functional Newegg.co.uk which is a bit of a pisser as I have to add £70 import duty to the USA price.

Yeah that's where I was buying it from but it's still charging me import duty and shipping from USA so I assumed it was just a currency adjustment for the UK.

Newegg went down abit when they decided to be more like Amazon and started selling other things but they are still good.
There were more complaints about harddrive failures due to poor packaging which was why they had a special new bubble package for drives. I prefer to buy spinners from a retail store because they get damaged easily after stories about workers being under pressure to box things quickly at big online stores.
